Hello,
If the mounts are in good shape you will need to go into the transmission. The rear cover can be removed in car and 5th gear along with the synchro and shift fork can be checked. If they are worn with luck you can change them with the gearbox in the car. Sometimes when removing the shift fork the rod will pull out then you must remove the transmission and disassemble. It is also possible that the small springs or detent ball is damaged allowing the shift rod to pull it out of gear. The longer you drive without repairing the more damage that will be done to the gear, synchro etc... Good Luck, Bernie at George Riggin Specialty Automotive.
