Tie rod rubber bushing gone Posted by Bob E [Email] (#404) [Profile/Gallery] (more from Bob E) on Sat, 1 Aug 2015 03:55:39 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
1999 9-3 SE convertible with 138k miles-steering starting acting up, over steering and not responsive. I see that the rubber bushing on the drivers side tie rod is completely gone and the boot on the steering rack is open at the tie rods and exposing grease. I thought at first I could get away with replacing the tie road or the bushing, but in checking how the rack looks in my 01 and 02 9-3's I see that the rack boot should be sealed shut with no openings. Can that boot on the rack be replaced or is it too late and the damage is done? So sounds like I need a new rack and tie rods? Any thoughts or opinions? Thanks so much!
