Pricing will vary greatly depending on the quality of parts used and how complete the replacement of parts go. Figure $1500 for a good quality OEM compressor, receiver drier, expansion valve, R134a, drive belt, idler pulley, tensioner and labor.
I have many customers who have decided to throw in the towel in repairing their OG93 convertible tops, simply due to high parts costs. It could be a cheap $45 microswitch all the way up to needing 10 hydraulic lines and a set of 5 hydraulic pistons and a pump repair. For a set of pistons and lines with labor and fluid it usually runs $3200. The good thing is, convertible top operation has no bearing on the car being a reliable driver. Simply a two door soft top coupe!
Remember these cars were $35-40,000 when new in the early 2000s which is about $50k+ in today's money. Your buying a $50,000 car with $50,000 car parts and labor ops for $1800.
Best to have a full pre-purchase inspection (PPI) done on it by a Saab dealer or independent shop if your serious about the vehicle, will be the best $200 spent.
