Suspension/Drivetrain Noise? Posted by fdw201 [Email] (#2066) [Profile/Gallery] (more from fdw201) on Fri, 14 Apr 2017 05:54:01 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
2001 Viggen Vert, 113k. When the car is moving straight ahead, there is a noticeable "rolling" sounding noise, not a grind, more of just a clonk, clonk, clonk from the front of the car. Sometimes I swear it's coming from the passenger side, but other times it sounds like it could be directly under the motor.
When the wheel is turned to the right/passenger side the noise is more pronounced. When the wheel is turned to the driver side the noise completely disappears.
This noise does appear to be speed related, so the frequency of the noise increases with road speed. Above 60+ mph iit's almost not noticeable.
I thought perhaps I had some bent Viggen rims, so I replaced with 17" Aeros, and noise is still there.
Could this be a wheel bearing? I had it into my indy last year, and we thought perhaps that the rims were the most likely cause.
Just want to get some ideas before I take it back in... or maybe it's something I could do on my own!
Thanks!
