1997 900s with a manual clutch.
I wanted to replace the Febi clutch cable before it just gives out after 6-8 years. I'm older now and twist myself in under the dash is a PITA. I've disconnected the cable's clutch arm side on the engine and have the old clutch cable out.
I removed the drivers plastic knee panel and the heat/AC conduit just to have some space to see what in there.
I've done this job years before but I cant recall how to reconnect that j-end shaped retention spring hinged on the clutch pedal fulcrum.
I recall I had to "load" the spring by pushing up and towards the car rear - i still had a piece of blue poly cord I used to pull the spring up under the steering wheel but i dont know what/how to attach the spring end end to the cable/lever.
I have the new cable end loop inserted from above into the clutch foot pedal lever hook.
Now!!! where do i attach the funky shaped end of that clutch lever spring. I understand its to load and secure the clutch cable - so it doesnt chance coming off of the pedal lever hook. It almost impossible to see in there behind all the assemblies- much less get your arthritic fingers up in there..
I am looking at the diagram "cartoon" in Haynes(chapt 6-3) but it doesnt rear show where it attaches. Maybe on the lever notch where the cable loop hooks on
Any guidance much appreciated.
Jim
