Hello,
To correctly replace those brake lines you should drop the tank. It can be done without but the lines might not be clipped in correctly to the retainers and may rub against the body and eventually lead to another leak. So is this a holiday weekend project? As far as dropping the tank if you live in a rusty area chase the threads on the tank straps then tighten the nut a little and chase again. It often saves the straps if you don't have replacements. The rust really binds in those nylon lock nuts. Good Luck, Bernie
