For NG900 it is 10,000 miles... recommended replacement is every 10,000 miles for the NG900 and is longer, like 20,000 miles, for the 9-3.
I asked SAAB corporate why and the answer is that the 9-3 has less inherent restriction in the air handling system and can handle the pressure drop across a dirty filter better.
Personally, I change my cabin filter every 15,000 miles. But it is not very dusty here in Seattle.
