Smashed oil pan on manhole... can the city pay for it?

Hi,
I live in Boston, and have a 97 900S... I was driving down a street yesterday, and the road was in such bad shape, that the car's oil pan hit a manhole, and shattered... I lost all my oil, and had to get a tow to the dealer... it;s going to cost me about $700 to fix, and my extended warranty won't cover it (since the car didn't "break down", it had a collision), and if I have my insurance pay, my premium will go up.
I wanted to know if anyone thought I could sue the city for the damage to my car. My car is stock, stock springs, stock height, etc. I'm not the first car to hit it, since where I pulled over I counted 7 other oil stains w/ oil trails leading from the same manhole...
anybody know a good lawyer in Boston>?
Thanks
Phillip
