The ECU monitors the engine speed, and the vehicle speed via one or more ABS sensors, and figures out what gear you are in. So there are no switches that you can override. It has been posted that the front left ABS sensor is used to monitor vehicle speed.
If you spin a wheel while doing a shift, the ECU can get confused about what gear you are in. So a wheel slip as you engage the clutch into third gear can create a situaton where the boost is limited in that gear as well. So the Viggen's have some added switches to mechanically detect the gear setting. Must be with that added power the problem is seen too often. I don't know where those switches are, shifter or trany, but I suspect the former.
Also, the ECU watches these RPM:speed ratios all of the time. If you are in cruse, and a front wheel slips on snow or ice, or hydroplanes, the cruse control disengages.
The Abbott ECU mods will increase the boost in the 1st two gears. So will an external boost controller. That will give you 15 PSI in all gears. Then you have the other problem, too much torque in 1st, and you have to learn to control things with your right foot. What a novel idea!
