It's not trivial to adapt the CDC635 to the cage made for the older (& larger) 605.
I just finished the job. My approach was to actually lengthen the changer access rectangular hole to move the changer as far to the rear of the cage as possible. This made it possible to cut a larger slot toward the other end for storage of up to (6) cd jewel cases (or another changer cartrodge). I lined this opening with felt to protect the cases.
I mounted the changer to the cage using the L brackets supplied with the changer (with the bottom of the L under the changer). To mount the brackets to the cage front, I pressed out the threaded studs (a.k.a. PEM studs) in the flat brackets supplied with the changer, drilled out the cage side at the appropriate locations, and press fit the studs into the cage side.
All in all, this was not a simple "bolt in" but it turned our fairly well. Having more than hand tools (e.g. a milling machine to make smooth cut outs) is extremely helpful.
I thought very seriously about mounting it under the glovebox instead, but I would have been always concerned about the changer getting kicked.
Once I was done with the mounting, I just plugged in the changer and it worked just fine (no code changing, pulling fuses, etc.). The car has not previously had a changer, incidentially.
In conclusion: IT WAS WORTH THE TROUBLE. If you haven't heard the premium sound system (200w amp) with a CD, you're in for a real treat.
If anyone wants more details (live dimensions & photos) drop me an e-mail.
