As some of you are aware, I have spent an insane amount of time grinding out my throttle body casting. So to reduce the amount that the air temp sensor projected into the air flow, I removed it once again, and was replacing it with some spacers.
As I screwed it in, turning it by the plasic connector, as I tightened it, I saw that I had turned it, but the brass casing was not turning. Panic, had I just twisted off the wires of the thermistor?!!!
Nope, but scarry!! The thermistor leads go directly into the plastic, and the brass case is just a shell that can turn harmlessly about the rest of it. The thermistor does not even touch the brass, but could do so if bend over a bit. So I used a vise to swage over the brass a bit more to grip the plastic. Some exoxy might have worked just as well. I assume that the plactic had shrunk a bit.
