I use rectangular Hella 550s with 100 watt lamps on my Classic 900 and on my wife's 94 9000 - they work very well - a nice flat topped pencil beam that goes out miles LOTS of light on the road. I haven't figured out a way to mount them on the NG900 - though I have messed with the idea of mounting them in the grille - it will mean taking off the bumper, fabricating brackets and bolting (or welding) them on then mounting the lights - the first look suggests that both will fit and leave the center 3" on the grille intact. I'll probably also mount a pair of smaller Hellas under the bumper pointed outwards slightly as "ditch lights" - this is deer country!
I use this combo on the Classic - relay switched and with the option to tie them into the headlight hi'lo switch for instant dimming (to avoid dazzling other drivers. Its GREAT for the night driving I do on the winding river valley and coast roads here in Oregon.
If you figure out an easier way - let me know. If you REALLY want light output - there are a couple of 7" Pia's that put out about 230,000 canblepower!!
