First which year, and engine? The four cylinder enigines have a timing chain (NOT a belt) and a serpentine belt that drives accessories. The V6 has a timing belt which can fail with drastic results to engine. WHat you describe seems more like a pulley on the serpentine belt. Give us more details to help diagnose the problem.
