1995 900SET CHECK ENGINE LIGHT Posted by Andy [Email] (#759) [Profile/Gallery] (more from Andy) on Sat, 9 Dec 2000 16:35:43 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
I think I have a problem with my 1995 Saab 900SE. Yesterday I got the CHECK ENGINE light and after cleaning our my shorts, took a gander at the Haynes manual to see what I could learn. The check engine light flashes 4 times when the key is switched to the ON position, indicating that the problem lies in the coolant temperature sensor. I think I located the sensor on the car, a little blue do-hickey on the back of the engine on the drivers side. Is there anything I could be missing, I only get one error code, and my gas mileage has been dropping recently (from 22 to 18 mpg or so)……
I guess my question is, should I attempt to replace this sensor myself, if so, where could I get a replacement, and how difficult of a task am I looking at? If not, how much should I expect the shop to charge me for the same job?
Thanks a ton for the advice….
