Greg.
real simple to diagnose.
1. Turn the car off
2. Turn the key on to position II (lights on, no engine).
after a teensy delay, the check engine light will start to flash a pattern. Its trying to tell you something!
Write down the sequence. It'll likely be a long flash followed by a group of faster flashes. A coolant temperature problem results in a 1 long, 4 short.
Go to http://www.townsendimports.com (more directly to http://216.78.173.190/engine_folder/Trinonicflashcode.pdf)and you'll find a document that details all the codes.
If you have a turbo, you have trionic.
If you have a 4 cylinder non-turbo, you have motronic.
If you have V6, you should schedule a timing belt change, but I don't know about engine codes.
Good luck!
Paul N.
