Decision time on clutch

My clutch pedal has slowly been getting stiffer and stiffer over the last few months and my left leg's beginning to look like Popeye's.
There's also a small pool of oil coming from the rear of the tranny where the gear selector rod enters.
Can anyone give me guidance as to whether the pedal will just get worse and worse, or am I better off getting it sorted (presumably I'm looking at a rear seal job and replacement clutch at the same time?) ?
I plan to trade up to a newer NG in about a year and 10K miles.
TIA
94 SET 96K miles
