There is a low pressure light inthe instrument cluster. The sender is located on the back of the block, below the intake manifold. (Haynes)
It is normally closed while the engine is running with oil pressure the circuit is open and the light goes off, so that a bad connection could be also detected. The light should be visable when the ignition is turned on, but the engine not running.
Fiats used to have the ignition interlocked through the oil pressure switch, which was closed with oil pressure. The engine would not try to start until the engine was cranked enough to generate some oil pressure. This was often a pain in the butt.
The motronic wiring diagram does not show a connection from the ECU to the oil pressure switch. The instrument cluster diagram does not show a connection to the switch other than to the warning light.
A good determination could be made by disconnecting the wire at the pressure switch while the engine is running. With the Saab SID chimbing alarms and posting messages when the windshield fluid is getting low, you would expect some monitoring of the oil pressure other than a conventional idiot light.
