First question, why do you need to remove the head unit? If you install the CD player in the trunk, the wiring is in place to the head unit. If you install the player in the glove box or under the dash, then you will need to remove the head unit. The correct way is to get the DIN pullers - U shaped prongs that fit those holes in the head unit. About $4/pair at Walmart in the auto accessories section.
