I have 96 Saab 900se with the check engine light problem...3 weeks ago I took my car into my Saab dealer (this was 2 weeks after having it in for a major service, oil check and standard check up at 50,000 miles).
I was told that my front OS needed replaced..costing around $270 including parts and labor. The dealer had it for 3 days, drove it over 100 miles to make sure the problem was fixed. I picked it up, drove it for about 40 miles (mix of city & highway) and boom the light was on again.
Took it back to the dealer, they kept it for another 3 days, replaced the rear OS (which they said usually goes out once the front OS goes). Again, I picked up the car and drove it 2 miles and light came on again, this time the fan sounded louder than normal.
I took the car back to the dealer, they tore up the check I wrote for the rear OS and kept the car another 3 days again driving it 100 miles to make the problem was resolved. The dealer took out the new rear OS sensor (putting the original one back in) put a new front OS (second time for this).
I picked the car up drove 50 miles (mix of city and highway) and sure enough the darn light back on.
HELP! Any advise?
Summary:
Front and Rear OS sensor replaced. (See above)
Dealer has put 300 miles on the car
Light still on (steady on not intermittent)
