At idle there is no pressure and the turbo is barely turning, so no pressure. So do not idle the engine, or things will be too hot and unpleasant to work on.
The stubby thing is the wastegate actuator. But you should know that from my previous post's decription of the hoses. But is is good to verify!
The turbo compressor housing is lower and larger, and connected to the intake air with a pipe and hoses that are almost 3" in diameter.
So the input to the MBC is the turbo compressor housing hose barb, and the output is the wastegate actuator srubby thing!
Don't forget to close off the two BPC hose barbs.
Don't cut the OEM hoses, you might want to revert to them someday.
Don't drop that tiny allen wrench!!!
A note for other readers: Manual boost controllers do not seem to be useable with T7 ECUS. That means year 2000 and up 9-3's. If is has a mass air meter, then you are probably not able to do this. (If I do not have the T7 inception dates correct, please post.)
<insert usual blurb about fuel plugs and low restriction intake & exhaust>
