The dents I had fixed were actually not on my Saab.
One was in the front fender, above the front wheel, approximately 2 inches in diameter and not very deeply dented. The guy was able to go in between the inner lining of the fender and the fender itself. He had some long tool, with tape wrapped around it. Then he massaged the dent out to the point I could not see it anymore.
The other dent was located at the rear fender, and must have come from some sharp edge on the other car's door (or a shopping cart). I was not present while the guy worked on it, but it was invisible afterwards.
There were no creases or lines in the sheetmetal where the dents were.
From your description I do not understand why the paintless dent removal should not work. Is the paint broken, cracked or scratched deeply? Are the dents very deep? Or is your body shop just trying to get your money?
I am not excited about repainting, as it is often hard to get the color matched exactly. I see so many cars driving around, where you can see at a glance which body part has been repainted.
In any case, I would first talk to your neighbor, show her the damage, and demonstrate to her that it comes from her car (open her door, and show her how it hits your car). Tell her that you are going to have it fixed at her expense. Be friendly but firm. Hopefully she'll learn to respect your property in the future.
Best of luck!
Nicole
PS: Try searching the internet for paintless dent removal. Try http://www.google.com. There are lots of companies out there doing this! you might also ask used car dealers in your area - they often save a lot of money by using this service!
