Well, I just got back into the country on sunday night, so I havent had time to troubleshoot. I did have to drive from Rochester to Syracuse, NY, and that helped me get a better idea of what the problem is.

At high speeds (over 50) the steering wheel shakes like a tire out of balance, BUT, the odd thing is that if i have the cruise set at say 70 and i hit the gas it shakes violently while there is power being applied. It goes back to a more mild vibration once i stop accelerating.

The other thing that I had been noticing before i changed rims/tires was that the steering had a mild tendency to wander left/right, which made me think of tie rod ends that could be worn. Maybe with the larger rims/tires this problem is becoming more pronounced? It seemed to wander on the highway a lot more. I realize that larger tires will "follow the road" more than my old ones, but this is not that type of sensation.

Once I get some free time I am going to play with tire pressures, and if that doesnt work I'll try rotating the fronts to the rear and see if that alleviates the issue, if it does I know that its a problem with the rims/tires, if not its an issue with my steering/suspension.

Any other advice/tips would be really appreciated. It has been almost 6 months since my last service visit, and the saab usually needs to go in once every 6 months to have all the niggling little issues dealt with, so I'm right on schedule if i cant figure this problem out :)

If the car didn't look so cool with the new 5 spoke rims on it I would be getting pissed that my upgrade is causing me headaches ;)

Brian
