The stock Saab amp for the audio upgrade kit does attach to an A-shaped metal frame behind the center console kick panel in the front passenger footwell.

I added an amp there to drive the two full-range 2-way speakers I put in the door locations. The amp was a 50W MTX 2120 Road Thunder and it just *barely* fit. The dimensions of this amp are 9"x6"x2" and the key dimensions to fit it in that location are the 6" and 2" dimensions. I mounted it with the longer 9" dimension running roughly parallel to the floorboard. If the amp is any taller than 6" or sticks out any more than 2" you will have a very hard time getting the kick panel back and place and secured with the bolt at the bottom.

I was a little worried about heat with everything being so tight in there, but it has not been a problem because the amp puts out so much more power than the head unit that I had to turn the amp gain way down to keep the relative volume from the door speakers in line with the 4 other speakers driven by the head unit. So, since the amp is not working that hard, the kick panel doesn't get any warmer than it used to just from the general heat radiated through the center console area.

The MTX amp, of course, did not line up with the mounting holes in the metal bracket behind the kick panel so I had to get a little creative with securing it in place, but it can be done and it will fit.

There are not many amps out there that are 9"x6"x2" or smaller, but if you hunt around, you can find a few choices. I went with the MTX just because I knew it was efficient and I got a real good deal on it.

Mark
