Well, today I decided to mess around with the Saab a bit. A while back I had a tech II tell me of a few problems. I attempted to tackle these problems today; I was given the diagnostic of a "large fuel evaporator leak". I traced all the fuel lines, none seemed to be kinked, cracked, or too worn. Next, I went after the Evaporator itself, this was a BIG pain in the arse. You have to remove the inner wheel well to get to it, that took a while and still no luck at finding any loose or worn hoses.

The "air inlet temp" sensor should finally be in by Tuesday. Anyone know if these two are perhaps related. Maybe the sensor is causing the purge valve or evaporator to malfunction. I'll find out soon enough I suppose.

I should also mention that my car was getting poor gas mileage for while. Well, I have added 3 bottles of the techron stuff to the gas tank in the past 3 months. Upon the last fill up my gas mileage sky-rocketed out of nowhere. I went from 24-25 hwy to 33-34 hwy. Is this stuff really THAT good Dean?

Finally, an easy DYI to do the next time you really want your car to shine! I removed the headlight cover, and cleaned the inside of the glass. I noticed that the gasket was loose on one end, and super glued the sucker back on. It made a nice difference, the headlight lense is much more clear now.

One more question for Dean, REM and others; I have done a few cheap upgrades to the car in the past few months such as removal of the turbo silencer, K&N airfilter, and modified the airbox. I haven't quite got the cash to get the sports exhaust yet. Is it possible to have TOO much air going in and not enough coming out...... could it screw anything up? What about adding the manual boost controller before adding the sports exhaust, could that create problems?

TIA,
Tom W
