NG900/9^3 have more electronics than our old C900's. The interconnected Motronic FI computer controls most of it. If there is a problem, it generally haas to go to the shop for a diagnosis (tech II) except for obvious stuff. Brother has a '94 SET with a 'check engine' light on. After 2 visits to the shop, the response is 'we don't know, but it seems to run fine'. I had a '96 SET and sold it after Saab fixed the 'snorkel tube' (tranny input shaft). Cable clutch was HARD. After this replacement, it was easier than either of my C900's. M '96 already (at 50kmi) had the vague shift mechanism. I was scared of it after that. I like to do my own work and there was not much possibility on this car. Even the clutch is not really a DIY project (IMO). I have done other fwd clutches, but this one was daunting. Also, there seems to be more info on the 9k (currently) for DIY repairs than the NG900, though that will, undoubtedly, change over time. I had a 5 dr SET 5 sp and, apparently, those are a bit rare on the used market (this is what the buyer of mine said). Many more auto 5 drs and more 5 sp 3 drs. this is just an observation, though.
