Coolant Loss = Loose Cylinder Head Bolt

Many thanks to Tom Townsend a.k.a. Saabtech for helping diagnose a troublesome coolant loss in my Abbottized 1997 900 SETC. Every 5-7 days, the "Low Coolant Level" warning would appear on the SID. No visible loss of coolant on the garage floor, no visible leak. Dealer pressurized the cooling system for ~48 hours, and couldn't find a leak. After hearing about Tom's experience with the same problem, I ordered a valve cover gasket set from him (1/2 the price vs. dealer, even w/shipping).
Yesterday I pulled the valve cover and checked the torque on the cylinder head bolts. Sure enough, just as he said, I found that the driver's side, forward head bolt was LOOSE. Not just a little, but it took about 3/4 of a turn before I hit the initial torque setting. All in all, over the 3 stage torquing process, I put nealy 1 1/2 turns on that bolt. None of the others moved in the 2 stages with the torque wrench. Total cost to DIY was ~$18 and a relaxed 1.5 hours.
I fully expect that this will solve the coolant loss. Tom said he's seen a lot of NG900's with this problem. Just thought I'd share.
Dan
Off to change the oil & filter, wash & wax!
