Haven't tried higher wattage lamps in a NG900 yet..... On my 1984 900T (classic 900) I ran 80/100 watt H4 bulbs in european E-code headlights. They worked fine with the exception that the lamp socket and the last 6 inches of wiring leading to the lamp socket degraded considerably over time. The lamp sockets actually melted and had to be repalced after about 2 years, and the wiring insulation became brittle and began to crack. I ended up splicing about 12 inches of high temperature wiring (a 'freebie' from a friend in the aerospace industry) and new lamp sockets on to the existing wiring harness.
So Dean is correct, keep an eye on the lamp sockets for signs of melting.
