What octane fuel should I use?

What octane fuel should I use for my '94 900S Turbo?
I switched up from 91 octane to 94 recently (it actually works out to be cheaper): but I've been reading stuff lately that says that using high octane fuel is really a moot point even if your owner's manual suggests that you do. . . new engines are highly resistant to knocking and don't need fuel that can handle extra compression?
I'm not looking to save bucks or anything - just curious.
I had a bunch of other questions too:
(a) looking to replace spark plugs: what make/model should I get?
(b) need winter tires: what make/model should I get (I want good traction in snow)
(c) will need to replace rotors soon: any special ones I should look for?
(d) where the f*** can I find chevron techron injector cleaner in Mississauga/Toronto?
(e) why does my car's fuel economy crapulate to 16.0L/100km in summer city driving?
(f) anyone here use beacon motors? your thoughts on their prices/service?
(g) car takes a couple of turnsovers to get started: doesn't fire up immediately like my dad's old ford tempo. I have a new battery though, are all Saabs like this? Or do I need a new DI cassettte or something?
