here's the procedure in a nutshell.
1. whip out your hack-saw
2. grap a flat-head screw driver
3. pry the center cap out of the top of the shift knob
4. yank the outer part of the knob off, revealing a white plastic core.
5. use the hack saw to remove said plastic core...glued to the shifter.
6. follow instructions to install new boot and knob.
7. ***make sure you didn't forget a good 2 part epoxy to install the new shifter knob***
