Rear Wheel Alignment?? ...or just an optical illusion. Posted by Saabster [Email] (#2456) [Profile/Gallery] (more from Saabster) on Mon, 22 Apr 2002 13:20:01 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
Hey all,
I've done the usual search, but thought I'd cover this topic again to see who is in the same boat as me.
Just finished a ton of "Spring" to-do items on my 95 900 SETC and saved the wheel rotation till last. I figure there's only 6k miles or so since last rotation. I'm running on the Kumho 17 inchers from tirerack.com and noticed what I would term as excessive wear on the inside edge of both rear wheels, enough so that the edges are scalloped. The wear is about twice as much as the outside edges. I rotated back-to-front as usual. Upon test driving, I noticed a "truck tire" hum at about 30mph and 50mph. It's driving me nuts! I know we live with a certain amount of camber on the rear of our Saabs which is fine, but both of my rears seem to toe in at the front also. I've been told in the past that a rear wheel alignment cannot be performed unless shimmed. (Where to buy??)
Should I persue, or live with it? Does anyone in the same situation run different rubber with better results? I may be wrong, but installing the SAS rear sway bar should not have had any negative effect should it? TIA
Tom (95 900 SETC)
