Update on rear alignment issue Posted by Saabster [Email] (#2456) [Profile/Gallery] (more from Saabster) on Tue, 23 Apr 2002 10:31:45 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
This is a companion post to my post from yesterday down the list a bit. I did a bit of research last night and arrived at the following conclusion. I am running the Kumho 205/45-17 ESCTA Supra 712 rubber. It is WR rated. Dorschel Saab put me through to their lead Tech on this issue. He said that any tire that is "Ultra High Performance" (as the Kumho is) will wear differently because they are a soft compound tire. He said to counteract this problem most effectively, one would need to rotate their tires every oil change (3k) vs. the 6k that I'm used to, because they will wear weird like this every day of the week. There are rememdies to the alignment issue, but can get expensive. He said if UHP tires are used, then expect uneven wear... basically live with it.
I'm posting this only as an FYI after a bunch of research. I also called the Tirerack to confirm and they told me the same story almost to a tee. So there you have it. Later.

p.s. He informed me that he has never seen a Saab "out-of spec" on the rear unless there is abuse, or an accident involved.
