finally got my car back with used engine

Well folks - Today I picked up my car after my mechanic has had it nearly two weeks. A used motor was installed that looked in great shape despite the 70000 miles listed on it (could not find a motor with fewer miles). Also had the SAAB sports exhaust installed.
The car has never driven better ( i have had the car for 40000 miles). The car accelerates much better and seems to react quicker to sudden pressure on the accelerator pedal. The sports exhaust is definately noiser than stock. I was expecting a different sound. I have not made a decision if I like it or not. I am leaning to NOT liking the new exhaust sound. Any ideas how to change the sound without replacing the entire exhaust?
I hope that the new to me motor and freer flowing exhaust will improve HP and mileage.
