engine so that even IF broken teeth or chain stretch or tensioner failure occurs and does allow the chain to 'skip', the valves and pistons won't meet (as they did on my son's 1994 V6 to the tune of $C7,200!!! when his timing BELT skipped 2 teeth). So, my guess is wait for the clattering 'noise' and then replace the related parts. I believe that preventative maintenance in this area is really a convenience factor rather than a catastrophic failure factor. Others may differ.
