I'd had this idea for several months and finally decided to give it a try. I removed the "FastenBelts" sign and mounted the concealed display in the opening. Here's the procedure: Remove the SID. Push on the fasten belts sign and it will pop out. Remove the plastic sign, housing and lightbulb. Store them for a later re-install if necessary. Disassemble the housing on your V1 concealed display, leaving only the curcuit board assembly. Sand the edges of the RJ-11 jack until the jack fits snugly in the dasboard opening. Mount the direct-wire power adapter (it came with your V1) to the inside of the panel under the steering wheel. From there you can run power to the concealed display. That's it! I'm going to make a smaller housing to go around my display, but it doesn't look bad without one. I'm also having a switchbox made by a friend at work so I can switch the display off during the day. If you decide to do this and have questions, post here or email me and I'd be happy to talk you through it. Please click on the link below for a picture of this install.
