...VW/Audi dealerships in the Toronto area two years ago trying to locate a Jetta for my girlfriend. At one dealership they did actually say that they could not lower the price because they just "can't seem to get enough cars and don't need to negotiate". (how very special - extreme sarcasm)
Well, finally I called up the APA (Automotive Protection Association) and got a membership. With this membership you can receive dealer cost quotes from the APA and also have access to their preferred pricing program, in which they guide you to an affiliated dealer. The price is a set level above dealer cost and it was actually quite reasonable, with no hassle, non-negotiated pricing at $1,000 above dealer cost.
This saved my girlfriend about $2,500 off the cost of the vehicle.
