Pumped? Sounds like there is not enough air when starting. The TB has been cleaned. There was a post not too long ago where problems were fixed on a 2.3l engine, by cleaning the idle air control valve. It has a wire connector and connects to two rather large hoses which bypass the throttle plate to control idle. There were details in the post. Search for idle air control or IAC.
