and my problem seems to be improving as I flush the system.
FPR install -v6-. Did this last night, -probably- didn't help this a.m, but time will tell.
Cold engine only. Remove engine cover. Put a cloth over the shrader valve next to the FPR, press down on it like letting air over the tire to relieve system pressure, some gas will come out. Put a towel under the FPR to collect about 2-3 tablespoons of gas. Undo the vacuum hose connected to the FPR bottom. Remove from throttle body and clean (replace this weekend), two elbows and a small diameted (.5mm?) white hose. Undo the 8mm bolt holding the clamp on the FPR, remove. Wiggle FPR back and forth while pulling to remove from housing, this is when the gas will fall out. Clean out housing. Push new FPR into housing, reverse process. Skill level: easy. Results? pending.
I pulled apart the old FPR (a-la Dean). There are only a few parts that could fail. There are two o-rings that looked worn. If the smaller one failed even slightly, that could allow gas to leach back into the fuel tank overnight, reducing start-up pressure. If the larger one failed, gas could leak/drip into the engine compartment. There is a spring, pretty hard to compress, that could stiffen or break (not likely, as its range of motion is about 1-2 mm) with age/heat (not exposed to gas) that could reduce pressure if it failed. There is a double membrane, felt like thin canvas, tore pretty easily, looked pretty worn, but did not seem to be leaking from one chamber to the next (no evidence of gas in pressure chamber).
