Sounds like the alarm did go off and it disabled the engine. I bet when you tried to get a jump the engine did not even turn over? If this is true, then it is likely the probelm I suggest. This happened in my old 9000. In that car you had to turn the key in the door back and forth 5 times or something to correct things. Check your owners manual as it should contain instructions. Very sorry to hear about the break in.
