I have a 1996 900SE convertible. The Tonneau cover is not opening completely and the top hits it on the way down. It only needs to open about another 1/2 inch. The motor does not chatter. I took it to the saab dealership, and the showed me a shaft that was slightly bent. It was just under the trunk liner at the top right side of the trunk and runs horizontaly. They want $150 for the part and $400 for labor. They said they would put the reinforcing plate on the tonneau motor at the same time, but that was not the problem. Has anyone else had this problem? Could I replace the part myself? The dealership said they basically had to rebuild the motor, but I don't believe that. the shaft is nowhere near the motor. I can see one end and it would be very easy to remove, I have not removed the trunk liner to see the other end, but it most connect to another shaft before getting to the motor because it needs to take a 90 degree turn. Any suggestions?
