Did the left front brake, pads and rotor last Saturday, Kudos to Dean, of course, on the excellent directions. The pads were worn completely down flat, I replaced the rotor b/c it was pretty cheap, and why not as long as I was down there, its quicker than getting it machined. The project is amazingly easy, I can't believe what I paid the dealer to do it a few years back. Once the wheel's off, it's only 5 hex bolts and lots of brake dust, have a small wire brush handy to clean the caliper; 45 min to an hour, probably faster for the second one. The funnest parts were (a) using my new hydraulic jack and new jack stands (there's a place in the sub-frame for the jack stands to sit), and (b) pushing in the brake piston and watching the fluid rise in the reservoir, that was pretty cool. If you have the right tools, the level of difficulty I would rate at 'easy'.
Note that when I ordered the rotors, the photo on the internet showed two, but I only got one in the mail, for about $56 incl. shipping. I had to order one for the other side, so that's my project this weekend. The pads were $49, and it came with front pads for both sides of the car (4 pieces), at a total cost of $75 parts per wheel.
Next project: rear shocks
