Saab&Volvo wheel question, snow tires and a hum, long

Howdy,
Maybe this is a question for Brickboard...
My wife and I "came into" a '97 Volvo 850 sedan (75K). (Orange! great color, great car!). Its now kind of our primary driver for long trips. Still love our '97 900s though (102K). I put my snow tires on the Volvo that I had been using on the Saab last two seasons. They're Yokohama k2's or something like that. pretty good, but a little skishy on the dry - no big deal. plenty of tread left.
Anyway - just wanted to make sure the wheel size is the same. They seemed to fit, and the bolt pattern seemed to be the same, it was just tight putting the wheels on the Volvo hubs - had to "pull" them on with the lug bolts. But a couple of the Saab stock alloy wheels are tight like that, so I wasn't too worried. I drove about 450 highway miles this weekend in the Volvo at around 75mph. No vibrations or shakes or anything, but there is this kind of deep, resonating hum at about 74-77 mph. Comes and goes. Seems to be coming from the rear. (OK, I know thats the upper speed range for many snow tires, but i've driven 85 with them on the Saab, rock solid.)
If I mounted them in the opposite direction than they were on the Saab could that be the cause; i.e. going against the established tread wear? I don't have a torque wrench, so maybe uneven torque? I never used a torque wrench on the saab and never had problems... Hmmmm.
Thanks,
Brian D.
