CE light question

My brother's '94 900SET 3 dr has had a persistent CE light. According to him, it is currently getting a 'rich' code. He gave me the actual code, but I do not remember it. I cleaned the + cable and the ground on the transmission and it is currently no longer giving a CE light. I am not too well versed in Trionic, but am puzzled as to how you can get a rich code. If it were a bad ground, it would read low, not high, wouldn't it? It has had 3 o2 sensors and is currently wearing a 'known good' DI cassette. SOmeone previously has cut into the wire to teh o2 sensor and has spliced it back together. I suspect this. Is there a port somewhere on the harness to actually see what the O2 sensor is reading?
