Gas odor in passenger cabin

I have a 95 900 Turbo that gives off a gas smell in the passenger cabin after the car has been running for a few minutes. While it doesn't happen every time it seems to be showing signs of a past problem. Several months ago I made a few trips in to my dealership to see if they could fix the smell (like the car is running rich) and its poor firing. After several attempts and continuing problems, they replaced the ignition cassette and a spark plug.
That fixed the problem, but almost immediately I noticed a strong buzzing noise coming from the climate sensor in the console beside my electronic climate control. At first the noise was sporadic, but now it's continuous and lasts until about 2 minutes after I turn the car off. What's driving me nuts is the gas odor has returned.
Does anyone know if the two problems could be related? Would replacing an interior climate sensor that's faulty or shorting out keep my ignition cassette from deteriorating so quickly? I can't afford to replace my ignition cassette every time I change my oil.
