Unless you have impeccable service receipts, it is better to be safe than sorry. Changing from regular oil to synthetic is no big deal. While there maybe some good reasons not the switch back and forth every oil change, the situation you describe should not pose any problems.
I would recommend you have the oil changed to whatever brand you would like at your convience. You may also wish to have the coolant changed, the brake fluid flushed, and the transmission fluid changed. Unless you have recent service receipts for these fluids being changed, it is nice to have a known starting point on your 'new' car with fresh fluids.
Might be a great opportunity to get to know your local independent Saab specialist.
