Replacing the cable is a pain, but it can be done at work. The biggest problem is undoing everything under the dash to get at it. The Haynes manual is pretty good for the procedure, but as I recall, there were some steps in it that were unnecessary. Easy enough to figure out though. The important thing to remember is to get the pedal spring back on in the right position. This requires as I recall, a decent assortment of needle nose pliers or channel locks. Failure to get it back in place properly will result in your cruise control not functioning properly. If I remember correctly, I found it necessary to remove an adjusting bolt (maybe for brake lights or cruise/c?) in order to get the spring back in place. Make sure that if you have to remove anything like this, you count revolutions so that you can put everything back into proper adjustment. You also need a good shop light to see what you're doing, and a back that's not prone to slipped discs.
