I'm no fan of a-holes on the road, and there are plenty of them, but I have to take polite exception to driving in the fast lane. In most states, the left lane by law is for passing only. Of course, with increasing traffic, it's sort of become a de facto travel lane. However, this shouldn't negate the responsibility of anyone driving in the left lane to give way to anyone overtaking them, no matter how fast (lawless) the vehicle behind is going. This shouldn't mean that if you're doing 75 that you have to slow and cut into the right lane behind someone that's doing 60, but you SHOULD give way when the right lane is clear, and STAY there until you need to pass.
The biggest hazard on interstates is "speed differential" and slow moving, clumped up traffic. It amazes me that right and left lane drivers will often drive neck and neck, leaving themselves little wiggle room if there's evasive action to be taken.
Maybe that bumper sticker that says "Either lead, follow, or GET OUT OF THE WAY" should be pasted on everyone's dashboard. The roads might be a lot safer.
