Well, like all the other guys in their 50's I needed a red convertible So far I've had three Saab convertibles (2 red) and 1 was a 1996 SE.
If you were trading your Jetta for a 1996 Saab sedan or coupe, yeah, you'd be crazy. But a convertible is another story. If you want a convertible, then you can't do much better than a Saab. 60k isn't high mileage on a well cared for Saab. Which is the first thing to look for: service records.
A specific problem area is the gears in the top mechanism, which you can research on this board and find out about. Major potential catastrophic fault areas for all NG900's are the DI cassette and the belt pullies on the engine. They can also be researched on this board. Other than that, each car has it's own little unique quirks, or not.
The NG900 are fast, safe and comfortable cars. If you have a knowledgeable mechanic and stay ahead on the preventative maintenance, you can drive them a long time.
