Trying to pick up a trend about the "new style" tensioner.
You see, if the "new style" tensioner starts to fail, we gonna see a lot of unhappy 9-5 V6 owners down the road.
The updated kit is pretty much the same design as the one installed from factory in all 9-5 V6, and is the same as the one installed in 97 NG900 V6.
It's "suppose" to make the timing belt go 60K between changes and NO change of tensioner assembly is needed at that point (which I have stated before, now I'm not so sure again).
I have now read about at least one case where the dealer recommended the tensioner on a 9-5, some miles after the timing belt was replaced (for additional charge)?
We just need to keep our eyes and ears open.
As for Chris case above, it seems that Saab lowballed the first engine swap labor and try to recoperate by adding extra on there for the non fit engine.
