I have a '98 SE with 110,000 miles - I drive about 45,000 miles a year - 20% city and 80% mostly rural highway. Over the last 3400 miles I have averaged 29.7mpg SID) and 30.3 actual. Highway speeds 60 on rural highways, 70 on interstates.
I get as low as 22.5 with heavy footed, round town driving.
Things that helped:
K&N filter AND the aibox mod
3" exhaust
changing from 17" wide profile tires to 195x60x15 rims and tires (2 - 3 mpg)
GREATEST GAINS came from slowing down from 65 and 75 respectively to 60 and 70. If I cut back to 50 and 60 I gain another 2-3 mpg.
I "practised" driving gently and at speed limits for about 1000 miles and got 33+ mpg -- but thats no fun in a Saab :-)
Using regular gas gives another 1 - 2 mpg
(At this rate I'll have the tank overflowing as I drive . . . . .)
