You never have to bleed brakes when you change the pads/rotors. But it might be time to bleed them. Change the fluid at the reservoir one a year in anycase. That is where moisture contamination occurs.
New pads can feel spongy at first until the pads bed in and the pad surface consolodates. Worse if you do front and rear at the same time. this does not mean that air has entered the system, and bleeding will not help. So some repeated fast braking to accelerate the seasoning of the pads.
Search this BB for drs<underscore>install and find brake work posts. Two or three years ago.
